Luggage Scale

This was one of the first things I bought on eBay, for around $7. I bought it to calculate postage costs for selling things on eBay. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of it, but it's a dark blue colour like in the picture below, and the front only has a screen with 4 digits and a red LED.

It recently stopped working after the batteries leaked, so I opened it up.

The strap is tied directly to the metal parts, not the plastic case, so it's stronger than I thought. In fact, holding it by the strap might be stronger than holding it by the case. The measurement sensor seems to be the part covered in white epoxy. The metal seems to be arranged in a Z shape (when the scale is vertical).

It was very useful, especially when traveling. The only problem was the hook was difficult to attach to luggage straps. I have another scale of a different model, but if I didn't, I'd buy another one. Maybe with a strap to attach to luggage and a backlit screen.

Things eBay needs

For all the awesome things eBay sells, oddly, there are still things I can't find satisfactorily.

• Bubble tea straws - these are strangely overpriced. Why aren't there any HK shops selling these?
• Replacement aluminium filters for cooker hoods - only very few models are available. Why don't they sell DIY filters?
• Lenticular sheet - used to make 3D pictures or moving pictures. This is hard to do yourself without software, but you'd still expect eBay to have it.
• Acrylic sheet

Nikon ML-L3 remote

I bought this remote from eBay for my D50. It'll make taking group pictures easier. It's not the original remote. The original sells for about $30, I bought this for $4.01 ($4 postage, $0.01 winning bid). So far, it works perfectly. eBay is great for buying things like these, where you don't need the original or don't care what brand it is and there's no chance of it damaging your things. I'd be more careful with batteries and adapters though.

Goldenage guitar

I bought this guitar from eBay for AUD$35, including shipping. I won it in an auction, so you may not find it at that price.

It's a Goldenage acoustic guitar. It's not full sized, slightly less than 1 m long and has steel strings. My friend, who's played guitar for 10 years, says it sounds pretty good. It came with a strap, soft bag and pick, so it was a really good deal. I think it's a great beginner guitar.
