I was just thinking about how I'd make a pain scale, and this is what I came up with:
- Unaware of any pain
- Not sure if pain is still present or subsided (like listening to a very soft sound, or seeing a shape disappear into a cloud)
- Pain is confirmed, but "interesting" (like plucking a hair or pressing a bruise)
- Steps are actively taken to avoid the pain (walking with a sprain)
- Seeking ways to reduce the pain (headache)
- Immediate help for pain is sought
- Focusing all attention on reducing pain
- Unable to help oneself in removing pain anymore
