Pointpal

Pointpal is a loyalty card app for iOS and Android. I'm all for consolidating loyalty cards and loyalty card apps. Right now I only use this for Subway.

The way this app works seems to depend a lot on people's integrity. To score points, the shop is supposed to tell you how many points you're eligible for. You enter this on your phone then pass the phone to the shop. The shop then scans a QR code of theirs using your phone, which verifies the points. Now this QR code isn't unique to each transaction. Each shop (or maybe even each company :O) only has 1 code. This means, if someone were to acquire the code, they could give themselves unlimited points... Doesn't this mean people won't use this system for serious or valuable points (e.g. credit cards)?
