Buckyballs construction

Just something I noticed when playing with Buckyballs (Zen Magnets, Nanodots).

If you line them up so that they're facing opposite directions, they align alternately. e.g. if the top row were:
N-S --- N-S --- N-S
the bottom would be:
S-N --- S-N --- S-N

If you line them up so that they're facing the same direction, they'll stack above one another. e.g.
N-S --- N-S --- N-S
N-S --- N-S --- N-S
This is also the arrangement used to make a cube.
