Section breaks in Word

If you want to have a Word document with:
  • different page orientations (portrait and landscape)
  • non-continuous page numbers
  • different margins on different pages
  • different numbers of columns
  • different headers or footers
You need to divide your document into sections. What are sections? They're divisions of the document with different properties. The way to add a section break varies greatly by versions of Word, so you'll have to look around. It's near Page Break though. Section breaks can be added without breaking pages.

A word of warning - section breaks mess up page numbers, making printing specific pages difficult. Test before printing if you have to.
