Download YouTube videos on iPhone

I wish there was a way to download YouTube videos on the iPhone itself. It's so troublesome to download, convert and transfer. It's unlikely that an app like that will be made, because it violates YouTube's terms of service. MiTube could do it, but it was quickly removed.

MiTube reminds me of Handy Light, a torch app on the outside that secretly enabled tethering which was also quickly pulled. The fact that this app could be made makes me wonder how much power developers have. It seems that Apple allows them a lot of freedom during developing, only applying restrictions when the app enters the store. There was a camera app that used the volume buttons for shutter buttons that got pulled, but it shows that those buttons can be reassigned by an app. I wonder if the home button can too?
