Steganography

I found out about this method for writing secret messages called Steganography from the app Spy Pix by Juicy Bits. Steganography is the hiding of information in plain sight. It can be used in digital pictures, sound, or physically like under postage stamps.

In this app, you can hide 1 picture in another. The hidden picture is written into the front picture's noise values, and is in colour. That's a lot of extra information that can be hidden! You'd think image compression would get rid of extra information, making this technique impossible.
I haven't tried this app, so I don't know if it uses a standard method or not, meaning the hidden pictures can be displayed using other methods.
