iPhone 4 launch - Chadstone, Melbourne, Australia

Arrived around 6 am. Apple Store scheduled to open at 8 am. Queue already reached the side of the Crocs store.

People already in the Apple Store at 6 am. Are they delivering the goods?

Just before 7 am, they gave out Krispy Kremes and water!

7:45 am: the running of the geeks!

The Apple Store opens! The wait is just beginning.

It turns out, we spent longer waiting from when the store opened to when we entered, because they had salespeople helping individually. It took about 20 minutes per group of people. At first, we thought people were taking a long time to ask questions and buy accessories, but we found out it was because they were helping people swap to micro SIMs. That's right, they give you a new micro SIM for free. I was going to cut my SIM.
The people applying for new lines took even longer, about 1 hour per person! Even though their queue only had 10-20 people, they took about as long as our queue! The people working at the Apple Store have legendary friendliness and patience. I wonder how they choose the employees. Despite that, their patience was tested on that day. The poor salesperson beside us was on hold for 1 hour helping someone sign up for a Telstra line. Transferring my Three SIM only took a short call with little waiting.
